Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function properly, remember your preferences, and provide analytics. PlayScan uses cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) as described below.
2. Cookies We Use
Firebase Authentication
Type: Essential | Duration: Session / persistent
Stores your authentication state so you remain signed in between visits. Required for the Service to function.
Firebase App Check (reCAPTCHA Enterprise)
Type: Essential | Duration: Session
Verifies that requests come from a legitimate app instance, protecting the Service from abuse and bot traffic.
Stripe
Type: Essential | Duration: Session
Used during the checkout process for payment security and fraud prevention. Only set when you interact with the payment flow.
Google Analytics
Type: Analytics | Duration: Up to 2 years
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the Service — pages visited, session duration, and general usage patterns. Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and _ga_*. Data is aggregated and anonymized. We do not enable advertising features or cross-site tracking. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
3. No Advertising Cookies
PlayScan does not use any advertising or marketing cookies. We do not track you across other websites and do not sell your data. Google Analytics is used solely for aggregated usage statistics.
4. Local Storage
We may use browser local storage to persist non-sensitive preferences (such as UI state) on your device. This data never leaves your browser.
5. Managing Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling essential cookies may prevent the Service from functioning correctly.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Privacy → Cookies
6. GDPR & Your Rights
Under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, essential cookies (authentication, App Check, Stripe) rely on the "strictly necessary" exemption. For Google Analytics cookies, we rely on our legitimate interest in understanding how the Service is used (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). You may opt out of Google Analytics at any time by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
You still retain all your data rights under GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
7. Changes
If we introduce non-essential cookies in the future, we will update this policy and implement a consent mechanism before doing so.
